Manú Biosphere Reserve is located in southeastern Peru, partially located in the regions of Madre de Dios and Cusco, in the provinces of Manu Park and Paucartambo. With a territory of 1’909,800 ha is divided into three major areas: the National Park with 1’532,806 ha; Reserved Zone, with 257,000 ha; and Cultural Transition Zone or, with 120,000 ha. It ranges from 300 m., At the confluence of the Manu River with the Madre de Dios River, to 3,800 m. at the summit of the mountain Apu Kañajhuay. Some researchers believe in the virgin areas of this reserve is Paititi or the lost city of the Incas in the Peruvian jungle.

Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopa
We will leave the city of Cusco in our mobility, ascending to the heights of Paucartambo and along our journey we will observe the natural paradise of the Andes covered by snowy and the people of Paucartambo which is the capital of the folklore of Cusco continuing our journey to reach Ajanaco 3,560 meters where Manu National Park trip begins. Then, we will descend to the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, flowers, heliconias and many bromeliads, and to better observe the high jungle walk through a rough time and we will stop to witness the cock ritual of the rocks (“Peruvian Rupicola”) and with luck we might see many birds and some mammals and in the afternoon we will arrive to our typical hostel “Pilcopata”.
Day 2: Pilcopata – Atalaya – Machiguenga Lodge
Very early after our breakfast we will continue our journey in our mobility for about an hour until the port of Atalaya, where we will get to our boat for the high “Madre de Dios River” between 4-5 hours to Boca Manu and there will be continuing our journey by Manu River that is already within the reserved area along our journey we will also see a variety of birds such as herons, cormorants, kingfisher and many vultures of which the most spectacular is the condor of the jungle, king of the vultures (scarcoramphus papa) among others unmissable animals of the Amazon rainforest. At about noon we will arrive at the first lookout limonal where we will make a stop to check our drive by boat on the river manu and one begins to realize that Manu is so famous, and can appreciate diversity of flora and fauna, turtles, alligators, birds, and with luck the jaguar (panther onca) and many more, along the river different types of animals are observed. In the afternoon we will arrive at our camp: “Casa Machi”. After a short break we will organize our first night-walk in a primary forest, night in camp (beds) shower and toilets available.
Day 3: Machiguenga Lodge – Salvador Lake
This morning we will dedicate ourselves to visit “Salvador Lake” which will be 20 minutes from our camp by boat and walk 15 minutes into the jungle. We will visit the COHA Saviour and use a “Catamaran” which will give us the possibility to observe giant otters and a variety of rare birds such as sultana cock, or Agami heron and some alligators. Later we will walk in the main trails in search of mammals etc., also to learn the operation and the secrets of the rainforest. Overnight in camp (Optional trip: hike at night).
Day 4: Lodge – Otorongo Lake – Hummingbird Lodge
After our delicious breakfast, we will get to our boat to visit the “Otorongo-inlet” these 40 minutes from our camp and from one of the best tower, further observing a wolf river and stunning rainforest and finally we will have a last walk in the area reserved for the post of limonal, unfortunate mind left the restricted area and we boarded our boat and get to our hostel “Humming Bird Lodge”. In the afternoon optional walk through one of our trails.
Day 5: Hummingbird Lodge – Aguas Calientes – Pilcopata
We will continue our return by boat to our next hostel and on the way we gonna make a stop in a native community of diamond yet still maintain their original custom and the next stop will be in the thermal baths of hot waters to relax a bit (optional) and along the river high “Madre de Dios” have the option to see animals such as monkeys, birds and capybaras. Night at the hostel (village Pilcopata).
Day 6: Pilcopata Hostel – Cusco
it is unfortunately the last day in the jungle, after our breakfast we will return in our mobility through the cloud forest and finally reaching the Andes to Cusco and so arriving to the city of Cusco between arrived the imperial city of Cusco at 05.00 p.m. to 06.00 p.m.
